HAWAII ISLAND, Hawaii: United States Marine from the Big Island of Hawaii and Honoka’a grad Christopher Camero has died after being wounded during combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense announced Camero’s death on Tuesday. Camero was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

The DOD listed Lance Cpl. Christopher L. Camero as a 19 year old of Kailua Kona, Hawaii. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.
