(BIVN) – During a recent discussion at the Hawaii County Council Committee on Public Works and Parks & Recreation, councilmembers revisited progress made on curbing problems at Kealoha Beach Park in Keaukaha, the scenic spot also known as 4-mile.
Hawaii County Police and Kamehameha Schools participated in the talk, brought about by a bill introduced by Hilo councilwoman Sue Lee Loy.
Bill 80 creates a new one-way traffic pattern through James Kealoha Beach Park, and is “intended to increase safety in and surrounding the park area.” The committee voted to give the bill a positive recommendation.
Over the summer, the council outlawed drinking alcohol at the beach park, as well.
