KAHALUU, Hawaii: “Surf Day with Aloha” was held on Wednesday at Kahalu‘u Beach Park in Kona.

It was a day of surfing, entertainment, cultural activities, and lunch for people with disabilities. Keahi Robbins, the events organizer, explained why the event is so therapeutic.

The annual event is put on by Beyond The Limit Consulting, Hawai‘i Lifeguard Surf Instructors, and Halona’s Ocean Tours.

Hawaii County Mayor Billy Kenoi joined lifeguards – here he is talking to Ricky Alverez and Mark Sarme… as well as surf instructors, and volunteers in taking people with disabilities out to catch a few waves. Many of them have never surfed before.
