In an attempt to amend the $376 million county budget and decrease $23 million in planned property tax increases, Hawaii County Councilmembers Pete Hoffmann and Brenda Ford introduce different proposals targeting county golf subsidies.

Ford’s amendment (top video) would have decreased the Hilo municipal golf course subsidy by over $361,000. Hoffmann (below) hoped to cut $500,000 by eliminating tax payer funded subsidies for golfers on the west side of the island.

Both amendments were voted down.
