The coral graffiti along Queen Kaahumanu Highway in Waikoloa is a familiar site to visitors along the Kohala coast corridor, and recently, the piles of lava have also begun to take shape.

Residents who drive the arid stretch will probably recognise this dinosaur figure. However, the creator of the prehistoric prop may be a mystery.

Big Island Video News stumbled upon artist Ed Vasquez purely by accident, as he tended his “T-Rex” out on the jagged lava field.

Vasquez was happy to talk story about his roadside handi-work.
