A packed Hilo Civic caught some top notch volleyball action at the 52nd annual Haili Volleyball Tournament this week.
For the 3,000 fans in the stands, one of the highlites was the UH women’s volleyball showdown between the current Rainbow Wahine – one of the best teams in the nation… and the Rusty Wahine – made up of past UH volleyball players. The Rainbow Wahine defeated the Rusty Wahine to win the tournament’s Womens AA final.
This year, 148 teams competed in a number of different divisions in the tradition-rich Haili event.
Long time Rainbow Wahine coach Dave Shoji was honored this year for his important contributions to Hawaii’s volleyball community.
