Lingle explains death of job creation bills
Hilo, Hawaii – video by David Corrigan
During a Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce event in Hilo held to honor small business achievement, Governor Linda Lingle explains how it was “politics over policy” that made the state lose its focus on job creation during this legislative session.
The governor says her proposed tax credit for hotel building renovation, which would stimulate the economy and the job market, appears to be headed for a statehouse stall. Lingle is also disappointed with other legislation that she says is designed to stop her proposed health insurance help for businesses who hire unemployed workers.
The governor is blaming politics on the failure of these proposals to move forward.

As a small business owner, I can say that what Governor Lingle is saying is so true. Health insurance that must be provided AND paid for by the employer does make a difference in hiring any employees. If the State would pay a portion and it would take someone off State assistance, it is totally a win-win for the State and the Employer and a 3rd win for the employee.
Shame on politics.
