Pets were on parade this weekend in Hilo and Kona for the Hawaii Island Humane Society’s Annual Halloween Pet Walks; Saturday at Hilo’s Queen Liliuokalani Park and Sunday, at the Hale Halawai in Historic Kailua Village.

HIHS Pet Walks encourage pet owners to exercise themselves and their pets during these fun, family-friendly Halloween weekend events. The walks include contests and prizes, and walkers with – or without – pets are urged to raise pledges and support the Hawaii Island Humane Society. Kona participants even formed teams.

Proceeds from the Pet Walks benefit some of the many needs of Hawaii Island Humane Society including pet food supplies and low-cost spay and neuter services to combat pet overpopulation.
