UPDATE: News reports say Shaylyn M. Araw was arrested at about 4 p.m. in the Wainaku area, several hours after her escape from from the Hale Nani Correctional Facility on Sunday. A tip from the public led to her arrest.

ORIGINAL STORY: Hawaii County Police are on the look out for a 21 year old woman who escaped from the Hale Nani Correctional Facility on Sunday.

Police report that scaled a 15 to 20 foot fence at around 7:30 a.m. to make her get away.

Araw – who over the course of 2012 and 2013 has been arrested and charged on multiple occasions for different burglaries in the Pepeekeo area – is described as having brown eyes, brown shoulder length hair, and tan complexion. She is about 5’3, 110 lbs. Police say she was last seen wearing blue shorts with “HCC” printed on the back, and a white T-shirt, also with “HCC Inmate” printed on the back.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is being asked to contact the police: 935-3311 for non-emergencies, or 911 for emergency.
