Kona shark sightingKAILUA-KONA, Hawaii – La’aloa Beach Park, also known as White Sands in Kailua-Kona, will be closed until 2 p.m. due today (July 4th) because of a shark sighting.

The shark sighting was confirmed by a Hawaii Fire Department helicopter. It was estimated to be 10 feet long.

The Hawaii County Police Department says further closures may be necessary if more sightings continue.
