HILO, Hawaii – Police were still present outside the Low Apartments in Hilo on Thursday afternoon, the location of an alleged murder the night before.

Police responded to a reported disturbance at the apartment complex on the 100 block of Ululani Street. When they arrived, police found the lifeless body of a 59-year-old man in one of the apartment units. He was taken to Hilo Medical Center, were he was pronounced dead. UPDATE (March 28 – 1:30 p.m.) The victim has been identified as 59-year-old Robert A Evanson of Hilo. Police say an autopsy is scheduled for this afternoon (March 28) to determine the cause of death.

Police arrested 52-year-old Rhonda Faris and 63-year-old Elsworth Hulihee at the scene on suspicion of second-degree murder. As of Thursday, they two were being held at the Hilo police cellblock as detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continued the investigation.

The victim was identified through fingerprints. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.
