NEWS BRIEFS

• According to Hawaii County Civil Defense, the Puna Geothermal Venture reported having a steam release from the plant re-injection system at approximately 7:30 a.m.
• The release lasted about 1 minute, civil defense says, and no release of hydrogen sulfide was noted. Emergency crews are investigating and no actions or evacuations are needed.
