Puna Geothermal To Test Drill Rig Warning Siren Wednesday

PUNA, Hawaii – The Puna Geothermal Venture plant in Pohoiki will conduct a test of their facility emergency warning system on Wednesday, April 27th.

The Hawaii County Civil Defense says the test will include the sounding of the drill rig warning siren at approximately 11:30 a.m.

“This is only a test that is necessary to ensure the proper working order and function of their warning system,” stated civil defense in a message issued on Tuesday. “Residents in the immediate area and communities of Leilani Estates, Nanawale Estates, and the upper Kapoho and Pohoiki areas may hear the siren and we apologize for any disruption or inconvenience this may cause.”
