KA'U - Police say Highway 11 near the 60 mile mark had to be closed due to brush fire on Wednesday night.

UPDATE – The Hawaii County Police Department reports that both lanes of Highway 11 are open near the 60 mile mark.

KA’U, Hawaii – Highway 11 near the 60 mile mark was closed at due to brush fire on Wednesday night.

Police issued a Nixle alert, advising motorists to use Kalaiki Road instead of the highway.

At 11:24 p.m., police estimated that the road closure would last about an hour.
