(BIVN) – Hawaii Police Department reports that Honomu Road has been reopened following the Saturday’s fatal crash, however Highway 19 remains closed between Honomu Road and Transfer Station Road and will probably stay closed until Monday afternoon.
Hawaii County Civil Defense reports traffic is still being routed over Old Mamalahoa Highway, but this detour is limited to passenger vehicles only.
“Motorists are advised to avoid the area and to expect delays,” county officials say. “Large vehicles need to use an alternate route.”
