(BIVN) – Officials are letting Puna residents know about some upcoming Keaau-Pahoa Road Shoulder Lane Conversion work.
On Saturday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Hawaii Department of Transportation says Shower Drive will be closed to thru traffic between Highway 130 and 28th Avenue. There will also be lane shifts in both directions in the vicinity of the Shower Drive and Pohaku Drive intersection.
Then on Sunday, also from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Pohaku Drive will be closed to thru traffic between Highway 130 and Pohaku Circle. Lane shifts will also continue near the Shower Drive and Pohaku Drive intersection.
State DOT says Hawaii County has been notified and emergency vehicles will use alternate routes, if necessary, as the work involves milling of the existing roadway and fill with hot mix asphalt.
HDOT expects to complete the paving work in this area in one weekend, versus over the course of a week. Electronic message boards will also be used to notify the public.
