(BIVN) – A 30 acre brush fire near Higashi Camp and Keaiwa Camp has forced the closure of Kaalaiki Road for the night, emergency officials say.

In a Friday evening Hawaii County Civil Defense Message, police advised that Kaalaiki Road, Pahala thru to Keaiwa Camp Road, is closed due to large brush fire.

There is no detour, so the public is being asked to avoid this area until further notice, officials say.

No homes are being threatened at this time, civil defense says, and additional fire crews are being called to the scene to assist.

The county says that if the incident changes, the public will be advised with updates.
