(BIVN) – Hawaii County is looking to increase trash disposal fees.
The Hawaii County Council Finance Committee advanced Bill 82 during a December 4 meeting in Hilo. The measure would increase the fee from the current $85 dollars per ton to $101 dollars per ton.
One commercial trash hauler spoke in opposition to the bill.
Environmental Management Department officials made a presentation to the council before the vote.
