STORY SUMMARY

HILO, Hawaiʻi - Remaining councilmembers, set to serve another term, lavished praise upon former councilman turned state senator Dru Kanuha.

(BIVN) – The outgoing Hawaiʻi County Council held its final meeting on Monday, before the inauguration of the incoming council.

“And then there were six,” joked Valerie Poindexter, seated for the last time as chair of the council.

Not much was said about the two absent Puna councilmembers, Eileen O’Hara and Jen Ruggles, during the meeting. But former councilmember, now State Senator Dru Kanuha, was heavily praised by Karen Eoff, Maile David and Poindexter.
