(BIVN) – A High Surf Warning remains in place for east-facing shores of Hawaiʻi Island, and a High Surf Advisory is in effect for north-facing shores.
The current large northeast swell will remain high through today
then gradually subside, the National Weather Service in Honolulu says.
There will be a slight uptick with surf at 12 to 18 feet with locally higher sets along north and east facing shores through this evening.
“Expect ocean water occasionally sweeping across shorelines, very strong breaking waves, and strong currents,” the National Weather Service said.
