STORY SUMMARY

HILO, Hawaiʻi - The Department of Public Works will shut down Kahoa Street from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for tree trimming work starting March 11.

(BIVN) – Kahoa Street will close to thru traffic next week from the area just past Honoli‘i Beach Park to the Tsunami Evacuation Area sign at Pauka‘a, in order to do tree trimming work.

The Hawaiʻi County Department of Public Works’ Highway Maintenance Division says the stretch of road will be closed between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from Monday, March 11th, to Friday, March 15th, weather conditions permitting.

Honoli‘i Beach Park will remain open and accessible during normal park hours, officials say, and the Kahoa Street roadway will be open to thru traffic after work hours.

“This closure is necessary to complete the work in a timely manner and for the safety of the workers and the traveling public,” a County media release stated. “The County of Hawai‘i Department of Public Works apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and thanks the community for their patience and understanding.”
