(BIVN) – The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Statement for Hawaiʻi for afternoon hours, at and around peak tides, through Tuesday.
“Peak monthly high tides combined with water levels that are running higher than predicted will lead to minor flooding in low-lying coastal areas,” the Honolulu-based forecasters stated. “Coastal flooding is possible through at least Tuesday around the daily peak tide, which will be during the afternoon hours.”
Tides are forecast to decrease by Wednesday, “though coastal flooding may still be possible for select locations where water levels are running highest,” the National Weather Service stated.
Impacts will be greatest along vulnerable low-lying coastal roadways, docks, boat ramps and other coastal infrastructure.
