(BIVN) – A large area of disorganized convection is being monitored for potential tropical cyclone development, roughly 1,100 miles east-southeast of Hawaiʻi.
As of Monday morning, the National Hurricane Center says environmental conditions are conducive for further development of this system, currently named Invest 93C, into a tropical cyclone by the middle of this week.
The National Weather Service said Invest 93C is expected to head in the general direction of Hawaiʻi as it develops, “but we don’t yet know how close it may come.”
On Sunday, the National Weather Service said “confidence is high (90%) that what will eventually be named Lala will form soon.”
“Model spread is also high, with some solutions taking the system north of the islands, some south, and a few going through our state,” the forecasters wrote. “No official forecast exists yet. It will take another day or two before we have a forecast track.”
“At this point, we suggest that folks make sure they are prepared and make sure to stay informed,” the forecasters advised.
