(BIVN) – The Hurricane Watch and Tropical Storm Warning for Hawaii has been discontinued, as Hurricane Nolo continues to move to the west, away from the Big Island.
As of 5 p.m., multiple weather alerts were in effect for different sections of Hawaiʻi island.
Flooding has been reported in Kaʻū, and Highway 11 was closed earlier in the day on Saturday.
As of 11:30 a.m., Hawaiian Electric reported crews were working to restore power to about 30 Hawai‘i Island customers in the Lower Puna area.

This is a Flood Advisory update for Saturday 09-26-2026 05:48 PM.
Although Hurricane Nolo continues to move away from Hawaiʻi Island, heavy rains, possible flooding conditions, and strong winds are expected to continue through tonight.
Currently heavy rains are occurring in the Kaʻū district and some flooding is taking place in the Waiʻōhinu area near Kamaoa Road and Kaʻalaiki Road in Nāʻālehu. Flooding is also occurring along Highway 11 in the areas of Honuapo and Kaʻawa.
Highway 11 is closed in Waiʻōhinu from Pinao Street to Kaʻalualu Road.
Highway 11 is also closed between Nāʻālehu and Pāhala due to flooding. Roadblocks are set at the Nāʻālehu Police Station and the Punaluʻu Road.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes if possible.
As more rain is anticipated for the area, the following shelters remain open at this time:

Robert Herkes Gym in Pāhala
Ocean View Community Center
Residents in the flood impacted areas of Nāʻālehu and Waiʻōhinu are advised to anticipate continued heavy rains and possibly more flooding and to take necessary precautions and consider taking refuge at a shelter or other locations outside the flood prone areas.
