(BIVN) – The Hawaiʻi Police Department’s recent Badges and Buckets fundraiser raised a total of $47,636.45 for the Special Olympics Hawai‘i in the month of September.
The two events, held in Kona and Hilo, were part of Special Olympics Hawai‘i’s largest annual grassroots fundraiser of the year.
The first event was held at the Kona Walmart Store from Friday, September 11, through Sunday, September 13. The second event was held at the Hilo Walmart store on Thursday, September 17, through Saturday, September 19, 2026.
The fundraiser featured off-duty officers, volunteers, and Special Olympics athletes raising awareness and collecting donations for Special Olympics Hawai‘i. This was the 23rd year the event has been held on Hawaiʻi island.
“We are truly humbled by our community’s support, which will directly benefit Special Olympics Hawai‘i and their efforts to provide year-round sports programs for athletes, including opportunities to participate in regional and national competitions,” the police department stated in a news release.
