November 17, 2010 – HILO, Hawaii

By Stephanie Salazar

A celebration of life for former news reporter Marcia Reynolds will be held 4 to 6 p.m, Friday (Nov. 19) at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel Moku’ola Room. Her friends are inviting others from journalism, politics and travel to join in remembrances of the 40-year Big Island reporter and businesswoman.

Marcia died lst week at the age of 64, at Queen’s Medical Center.

A new york native, Marcia – known for her Irish twinkle and an engaging sense of humor – burst onto the Hilo news scene in 1970, hired by then news editor of the Tribune-Herald, Hugh Clark.

Following a career in news, Marcia worked in the administration of then mayor Stephen Yamashiro. Most recently she was a popular travel executive in Hilo.

There will be a ceremony for placement of her ashes into Hilo Bay the following day with a bayfront service at the canoe landing followed by her final ride up the coast. The time will be announced at the service on Friday.
