December 16, 2010 – KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii
Video by David Corrigan | Voice of Stephanie Salazar
The Leeward Planning commission had a large audience for their meeting on Wednesday at the King Kamehameha Kona Beach hotel. Nearly everyone present opposed a plan for a four-story, 16-unit condominium at Holualoa Bay near the popular Lymans surf spot.
Developer William Foulk is seeking a special management area use permit in order to go ahead with the project.
Many in attendance were unhappy at the way the meeting was scheduled, saying that a great number of residents could not wait around until after lunch, when the public testimoney was taken. However, the public will have another chance to give public testimony today, on Thursday morning.
