(BIVN) – Area residents and concerned citizens join Hawaii County officials and the Hawaii Public Housing Authority in planning a future for the vacant Lanakila Homes. The group toured the unoccupied neighborhood and discussed ideas for saving the structures at a low cost. The units are in need of rehabilitation if they are to serve as public housing for the Big Island’s large number of families in need.

  1. Why do you put a video of paving a highway in mauka when Lanakila homes is in Hilo. wanted to see the restorstion project of Lanakila not the paving of a HIGHWAY. Whats going on? I’ve lived in Lanakila for over thirty years and wanted to see the project progress. But,was disappointed to see something else. Got something to hide? Thanks

  3. Why dont they let the people who would like to live in these homes…help build them and have ownership??
