Keauhou, Hawaii – A bill to ban smoking while kids are in the car has advanced through the County Council Committee.
The proposed legislation was introduced by Puna councilwoman Emily Naeole-Beason, and was mostly praised by attendees at last Tuesday’s meeting.
The bill drew predictable praise from anti-smoking advocacy groups.
The bill passed with a 6 to 3 vote. It now heads to the full council.
