Phone Outages In Kona, Ka’u Affect 911

HAWAII ISLAND (BIVN) - Hawaii County Civil Defense says anyone needing immediate medical attention "should go to the nearest fire station, police station, or medical facility."


HAWAII ISLAND – Hawaiian Telcom is experiencing technical problems that are affecting telephone, internet, and cell phone services, including 911.

Hawaii County Civil Defense says these problems have been reported in Ka’u, from Pahala though Hawaiian Ocean View Estates, up to Kailua-Kona.

The issue is being addressed by Hawaiian Telcom, the county says.

“Anyone affected by these problems who requires immediate medical attention, should go to the nearest fire station, police station, or medical facility,” civil defense said in a message issued at 12:15 p.m.
