(BIVN) – Officer Adam Roberg was named the 2018 Officer Of the Year by the Kona Crime Prevention Committee during an awards luncheon held at the Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel on Wednesday.
Roberg, named Officer of the Month in July 2017, was recognized along with nine other officers who were also named Officer of the Month over the last year.
Nominated by Sergeant Edwin Buyten, Roberg is said to impact the community he serves. “As well,” the event program stated, “he is strong influence on his co-workers and this influence is motivating. He leads by example, is willing to help where he can, and has a positive effect on his co-workers by having them engage in more proactive policing.”
Roberg, as well as Police Chief Paul Ferreira, spoke at the event.
For 47 years, the Kona Crime Prevention Committee has been furthering its mission to support and encourage the West Hawaii Police Department’s efforts to prevent crime, deter potential criminals and enforce our laws. The committee also assists with providing police equipment and police training when Department funds cannot support those needs.
