(BIVN) – The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a High Surf Advisory for Hawaiʻi Island.
Surf will build to 6 to 9 feet along south facing shores of all islands starting this morning, then peaking late this afternoon through Saturday.
Forecasters say the island can expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
The Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense said following are issued:

- Beach-goers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
- Beaches may be closed without notice.
- There are no beach closures at this time.
