Four West Hawaii State Parks To Close Early Today

WEST HAWAIʻI - The Hawaiʻi DLNR is closing Kekaha Kai State Park, Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area, Lapakahi State Park, and Kiholo State Park at 5 p.m. today.

(BIVN) – In an attempt to discourage use of fireworks and to protect the public and natural resources of the areas, the Hawaiʻi Department of Land and Natural Resources is closing four West Hawai’i parks early on the Fourth of July holiday.

DLNR says Kekaha Kai State Park, including the Mahaiula and Maniniowali (Kua Bay) sections; Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area, including the Waialea Bay section; Lapakahi State Park; and Kiholo State Park Reserve will all close at 5 p.m. on Thursday July 4, 2019.

Normal park hours will resume on Friday July 5, 2019, the state says.

Fireworks are prohibited in state parks all year.
