More Shark Sightings Close Two Kona Beach Parks

KONA, Hawaiʻi - Laʻaloa, or Magic Sands, and Kahaluʻu Beach Parks are closed today after a confirmed shark sighting this morning, officials say.

(BIVN) – Two popular Kona beach parks are closed due to confirmed shark sightings.

On Thursday, the Hawaiʻi Cunty Civil Defense announced that the Hawaiʻi Department of Land and Natural Resources reported “Laʻaloa (Magic Sands) and Kahaluu Beach Parks in Kona are closed due to a confirmed shark sighting this morning.”

A reassessment of conditions will be conducted this afternoon, the County said.

Civil Defense on Wednesday reported the closure of Magic Sands following a shark sighting.
