VIDEO REPORT: KAHU 91.7 FM comes to Ka’u
June 16, 2010 – Pahala, Hawaii
Video by David Corrigan, voice of Tim Bryan
Ka’u, the southernmost district on the Big Island of Hawaii, finally has a radio station to call its own.
The remote region has a reputation for being a broadcasting deadzone, where cell phone signals weaken and the radio dial falls silent. With KAHU communtiy radio, local residents hope that that reputation may finally change.
The new radio station can be found on the fm dial on 91.7, and can be heard between the west side of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Waiohinu. The studio and tower is located in the town of Pahala.

I was watching the video and this video is awesome, sorry I couldn’t be there for the support but other engagements planned in advance. I like listening to our own kine of local station with local people and you are all doing a great job. Keep up the good work, music, news, horoscope and good personality. Glad the sexual joke had gotten off for it was making the station and people in the station look bad. It is good for personal gatherings and others but not for a radiostation. I am a supporter of the station that loves music and tunning in to radio daily and to hear sex jokes wasn’t pleasant to hear but I can say that it is awesome now. Love it and tune in everymorning and all day until 6:00 pm for after that it is news time and family time.
GOD Bless!

Congratulations – KAHU radio on bringing a new welcomed voice to the people of Ka’u, Hawai’i.
E ho’omaika’i and continued success. Wendell you and your ‘ohana have done it again.
I remember those days when you first brought the voice of KAHU radio to the people of Hilo, right from your Homestead land in Panaewa and now a generation later to na po’e o Ka’u.
The work is honored, the music is sweet and the heart is full of aloha.
