On Friday (May 7th) the Windward Planning Commission voted to adopt the 5 Year Action Plan Update for the “EnVision Downtown Hilo 2025: a Community-Based Vision and Living Action Plan – 5-year Action Plan Update”.

Before the vote was taken, public testimony was given. A number of business owners voiced their disappointment with the initiative, saying that they did not feel included in the process.

The county says EnVision Downtown Hilo 2025 is a grassroots community planning and implementation process in collaboration with the County of Hawaii Planning Department.

The updated plan must also be approved by the Hawaii County Council.
