Two Kona men face possible felony charges for two incidents of copper theft.
On Monday (April 25) Kona patrol officers responded to a 1:30 p.m. report of a theft in progress at a religious facility.
Personnel from the facility detained two men who had been removing copper materials from a renovation and held them till the officers arrived.
Arriving officers arrested 31-year-old Dallas Runyon and 48-year-old Gordon Kimo Lopes, both of whom have no permanent address but frequent the Kona area. The men were held at the Kona police cellblock while detectives from the Criminal Investigations Section continued the investigation.
During the investigation, detectives linked the two men to another incident of copper theft and arrested them on suspicion of that offense at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Runyon and Lopes remain at the cellblock while detective continue the investigation.
