Earthquake repairs to the culvert in Āhualoa will begin the week of May 16. A bypass route around the culvert above King’s Cathedral and Chapels on Old Mamālahoa Highway will accommodate motorists until the scheduled completion date, the week of June 28. Motorist may use Kapuna Road as an alternate route. The FEMA funded project is estimated to cost $126,011.00. Federal funds will pay 75% and County taxpayers will pay 25%. An extension to complete the design and construction for this project was granted by FEMA.
