(Hilo, HI) – Hawaii Electric Light Company (HELCO) announces that a power outage is scheduled for Thursday morning, May 26, from 12:01AM to approximately 5:00AM. It will affect customers along Kohala Mountain Road, Hawi Road, Kynnersley Road, and Akoni Pule Highway (north of the 10-mile marker).
During the May 17 power outages, HELCO made temporary repairs to equipment within the Waimea substation. The May 26 work is necessary to allow crews to safely complete repairs at the substation.
HELCO recommends unplugging any sensitive equipment prior to the outage.
Customers dependent on electric powered, life sustaining medical equipment should make necessary arrangements.
HELCO regrets any inconvenience this outage could cause and thanks customers for their patience and understanding.
Again, a power outage affecting all of North Kohala is scheduled for Thursday morning, May 26, from 12:01AM to approximately 5:00AM.
