The Hawaii County Police Department has issued the following alert via the Nixle system:
USE CAUTION on Rte 19 North side of Maulua AND Kaawalii Gulch due to landslides covering the Hilo bound lane. Officers are on the scene.
Use caution in both areas as crews clear the roadway. Be aware as landslides can occur due to the heavy rainfall.
