In a Nixle alert sent out Saturday morning at 6:37 a.m., police reported HELCO crews would be working to repair a downed utility pole following the crash.

UPDATE – 7:30 p.m. – Highway 11 is now open, police report.

ORIGINAL STORY: SOUTH KONA, Hawaii – Police say motorists should avoid Highway 11 by the 103 to 102 mile marker in South Kona for the next 4 hours following a vehicle crash.

Police say the crash occurred near Ho’okena. Residents say the name of the community is Keālia.
