MAUNA KEA (BIVN) - Kahuna Frank Tamehameha Kamealoha Anuumealani Nobriga takes the stand - via Skype - as a witness for the Temple Of Lono.

HILO, Hawaii – The evidentiary phase of the Thirty Meter Telescope contested case hearing wrapped-up last week. Before the testimonies concluded, the Temple Of Lono – one of the hearing participants opposed to building the observatory on Mauna Kea – called Kahuna Frank Nobriga to the stand.

Frank Tamehameha Kamealoha Anuumealani Nobriga became a student of Kahuna Nui Pali Ku Samuel Hoopii O Kalani Lono o Ka Makahiki Po Paki in 1973. Tahuna Lono trained Nobriga in the teachings and practices of the Temple of Lono until Lono passed away in 1985. Prior to his passing away, Sam Lono designated Nobriga as the next Tahuna.

Due to health problems, Kahuna Nobriga delivered video testimony, live via Skype.

During the proceeding, The Temple of Lono – represented in the hearing by Lanny Sinkin – has had a combative relationship with the applicants, the University of Hawaii. The tension was evident during UH cross examination of Nobriga.
