STORY SUMMARY

HAWAII ISLAND - Updated results for the nonpartisan election for Hawaii County Council, as well as select state primary races.

UPDATED Sunday morning following the Hawaii Office of Elections summary report #5, the final.

STATE-WIDE RACES

Governor David Ige (50.3%) has maintained his lead over challenger Rep. Colleen Hanabusa (43.4%) in the Democratic primary race for governor. Republican Andria Tupola (53.2%) will be the GOP nominee for governor, headed towards a victory over candidates John Carroll (343.6%) and Ray Lheureux (8.7%). 246 of 249 precincts reporting. Hawaii Island state senator Josh Green (30.3%) leads the Democratic primary race for Lieutenant Governor, followed by Jill Tokuda (27.5%), Bernard Carvalho (18.7%), and Kim Coco Iwamoto (13.6%). [report #4]

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (75.7%) will be the primary winner in the race for U.S. Representative, District 2, with 131 of 134 precincts reporting, far ahead of Sherry Alu Campagna and Anthony Tony Austin. [report #4]

HAWAII ISLAND: Contested State Races

Dru Kanuha (51.5%) is still ahead of Brenda Ford (43.9%) in the Democratic primary race for State Senate district 3, with 9 of 12 precincts reporting. [report #4]

Incumbent State Senator Lorraine Inouye (51.9%) defeats Heather Kimball (42.6%) in the Democratic primary race for State Senate district 4, with 12 of 12 precincts reporting. [report #4]

In the Democratic primary race for State House district 1, Rep. Mark Nakashima (67.2%) defeats Koohan Paik-Mander (26%) with 9 of 9 precincts reporting. [report #4]

Rep. Chris Todd (68.4%) defeats Terri Napeahi (21.0%) in the Democratic primary race for State House district 2, with 5 of 5 precincts reporting. [report #4]

Rep. Richard Onishi (53.2%) holds off Democratic primary challenger Raina Whiting (42.4%) in her bid for the State House district 3 seat with 7 of 7 precincts reporting. [report #4]

Incumbent Rep. Richard Creagan (48.7%) is leading both Jeanne Kapela (37.0%) and Bucky Leslie (9.1%) in the Democratic primary race for State House district 5. 7 of 8 precincts reporting. [report #4]

Challenger David Tarnas (51.9%) has unseated Rep. Cindy Evans (44.6%) in the Democratic primary race for State House district 7, with 5 of 5 precincts reporting. [report #4]
