(BIVN) – The Hawaii Fire Department reported a brush fire at South Point on Friday morning.

According to a Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense message, “fire department operations extend along South Point Road from the South Point and Kaʻaluʻalu Road intersection.”

Due to the brush fire, the boat ramp and Ka Lae cliffs are closed, officials say. The area is expected to be closed throughout the day.
