(BIVN) – $9.5 million in Capital Improvement Program (CIP) funding is headed to the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo to support facility improvements on the campus.
Hawaiʻi State Senate Vice President Lorraine Inouye (D, District 1) announced the release of the funding on October 23, and expressed her appreciation to Governor Josh Green for his continued support of investments in higher education and infrastructure on Hawaiʻi Island.
“The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo is an important part of our community and a valuable resource for Hawaiʻi Island,” said Senator Inouye in a news release. “It plays a vital role in providing educational opportunities for our residents and preparing the next generation of professionals and community leaders.”

The office of Senator Inouye says the $9.5 million investment will support the design and construction of improvements to campus facilities, helping ensure the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo continues to provide a quality learning environment for students, faculty, and the broader community.
“I will continue advocating for investments that strengthen the university and provide opportunities for our students to learn, grow, and build their futures here at home,” Senator Inouye added.
