HILO, Hawaii – Paul Gibson, the man charged with attempted murder in connection with a May 10th stabbing in Keaukaha, has been re-arrested.
At 10:28 a.m. Thursday, detectives arrested the 46-year-old Ocean View man in Hilo District Court.
Police say Gibson, who was free on $374,000 bail, had appeared in court for the continuation of a preliminary hearing to determine if prosecutors had enough evidence to take him to trial. But, that hearing was no longer necessary because a Grand Jury indicted Gibson on Wednesday for attempted second-degree murder, third-degree assault, two counts of terroristic threatening, five firearms offenses and resisting an order to stop.
His bail was increased to $700,000. He is being held at the Hilo police cellblock until his arraignment Friday.
On May 10th, a 41-year-old Hilo man sustained multiple stab wounds to the back during an altercation on Keaukaha Road near 4-Mile Beach Park. Police arrested Gibson in connection to the attack.
