Quake was located 11 miles southeast of Volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii

9:30 a.m. | UPDATE

  • The magnitude for the earthquake has been adjusted to 3.9, up from 3.8.
  • NEWS BRIEFS

    • A magnitude 3.8 earthquake was recorded 11 miles southeast of Volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii at 10:30 p.m. HST on Jan. 23.
    • No tsunami is expected, reports the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
    • The temblor was felt as far north as Papaikou as very light shaking, but no damage was reported.
    • The quake originated at a depth of 4.6 miles.
