(BIVN) – The National Weather Service in Honolulu says a High Surf Advisory remains in effect for east-facing shores of Hawaiʻi Island until 6 a.m. Monday.
East-facing shores from Upolu Point in North Kohala to South Point in Kaʻū could see surf heights of 6 to 9 feet, officials say.
“A northwest swell spreading down the island chain will produce elevated surf along most north and west facing shores of the smaller islands today,” the National Weather Service wrote. “Elsewhere, the strong trade winds will
continue to produce elevated, rough surf along east facing shores through early Monday morning.”
Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense reports no beach closures at this time.
The National Weather Service has discontinued the Wind Advisory for Hawaii Island.
