Billy Kenoi was elected Hawaii County Mayor in 2008, and won re-election in 2012. Kenoi was born in Kalapana, graduated from Waiakea High School, and attended both Hawai‘i Community College and the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo before graduating from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst as a member of the UMASS Political Science Honor Society.
