In an earlier traffic alert, DPW described the plan for work in the area over the next few weeks.

DeptPublicWorksHawaii Co. DPW, 11.13.13

“On Friday, November 22, excavation of the waterline begins. The majority of the work will occur on Saturday and Sunday November 23-24. Merchants and residents on Kīlauea Avenue from Aupuni Street intersection to the Wailoa/Waiākea Stream Bridge will be affected by intermittent shut off to their water service on these dates. The Department of Water Supply will advertise a shut off notice in the Hawaii Tribune Herald next week.

Saturday, December 7, a new sewer line, and manhole will be installed in the middle of Kīlauea Avenue fronting Kawamoto Store; weather permitting. No left turns onto Aupuni Street will be allowed.

With the completion of the waterline and sewer line, road resurfacing is scheduled to begin on Monday, December 9 from the Aupuni Street intersection to the Wailoa/Waiākea Stream Bridge; weather permitting.

Yamada and Sons Inc, was awarded the $868,000 contract. Roadwork will continue through December and January and no roadwork, December 25, January 1 and January 20. Completion for this project is scheduled for early February.”
